There can’t be a Gujarati Samaj in fact any association without members to support them.

SDDGM preserves and celebrates Gujarati culture and unique festivals/events. It provides you with a forum for the exchange of social and cultural views.

Since 1963, Shri Dakshin Delhi Gujarati Mandal offers fun-filled activities and cultural and community events for all age groups throughout the year.

The Mandal is a cultural organization run entirely by elected volunteers each year.

Who can become a Life Member?

Anyone of Gujarati origin (by birth, ancestry, adoption or marriage) is eligible for Life Membership with voting rights and eligibility to hold office. Non-resident Gujaratis (NRI, PIO, OCI) are also eligible. See details in the following questions.

What counts as Gujarati by birth or ancestry?

If at least one parent or grandparent is Gujarati by origin, the applicant is considered Gujarati.

Can adopted children become Life Members?

Yes. A child legally adopted into a Gujarati family is regarded as Gujarati.

What about marriage into the Gujarati community?
  • A non-Gujarati woman married to a Gujarati man is eligible as Gujarati.
  • A Gujarati woman married to a non-Gujarati man remains Gujarati herself, but her husband may only join as an Associate Member.
What are Associate Members?

Non-Gujarati spouses, friends, and supporters may join as Associate Members. They enjoy all programs and benefits, but cannot vote or hold office.

Can Gujaratis living outside India apply?

Yes. Persons of Gujarati origin who are NRIs, PIOs, or OCIs are eligible for full membership if they meet the above conditions.

Will my membership remain valid if I move abroad?

Yes. Membership remains valid even if you relocate outside India.

Can membership be revoked?

Life Membership may be revoked if:

  • False or misleading information was provided in the application.
  • The member engages in conduct that is unlawful, unethical or contrary to the Mandal’s by-laws.
  • The member undertakes actions that harm, disrupt or bring disrepute to the Mandal or its community members.
  • Fees or obligations remain unpaid, if applicable.

Membership decisions rest with the Executive Committee and are final.

Can I transfer my membership?

No. Membership is non-transferable and ceases upon a member’s death.

Is there a minimum age to become a Life Member?

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to apply.

Can I refund my membership fees?

No. Membership contributions are non-refundable, as they are used to support cultural programs and community development.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept most payment methods, including international credit and debit cards, net banking, UPI and mobile wallets. You may also pay by check or through bank transfer (NEFT/IMPS). Up to date information is given at the time of application submission.
